June 19 2023,
Volvo has recently unveiled its fourth entirely electric vehicle, the EX30. It will arrive on the market for the 2025 model year, and it will take the title of the smallest SUV offered by Volvo, an effort to make the vehicle even more accessible and affordable.
Learn more about the new EX30 by Volvo with your Volvo dealership in the West Island. We’ll share with you all the interesting information currently available on its powertrain, design and price, including what we know about its Cross Country trim.
A 100% Electric Design
Despite its small size, this Volvo electric SUV wears its long wheelbase and its big wheels, which act like trademarks of the Swedish manufacturer, proudly. The Thor’s Hammer headlights, another recurring element on Volvo cars, make a return with this SUV, with a closed shield that hints at the vehicle’s electric nature.
The simple and refined lines of the new Volvo EX30 offer an elegant and futurist design. As for the colours of the exterior, the EX30 is offered in several colours, like:
- Vapour Grey
- Cloud Blue
- Moss Yellow, etc.
So, whether you prefer an athletic or a more traditional look, you’ll find the colour that speaks to you.
This futurist design continues inside the Volvo EX30, which includes various innovative elements like a soundbar that enhances the audio experience, as well as a Park Pilot Assist system that allows the EX30 to park by itself.
The upholstery and trim are offered in four themes inspired by nature: Breeze, Mist, Pine and Indigo. The whole is used to create a calm and inspiring ambiance that makes your driving experience peaceful.
A Very Competitive Price
Although the official price of the 2025 Volvo EX30 hasn’t been released yet, the manufacturer has announced that:
“… the attractive price of the EX30 allows our customers to buy an upscale all-electric SUV at a price that’s comparable to the price of a similar vehicle equipped with a combustion engine.”
Therefore, we can expect a price that will redefine the electric car market. We will undoubtedly get more information on this topic once we get closer to the preorder date, set to be in 2024.
For those that are still asking themselves why choose Volvo, here’s one of the main reasons: Volvo is a manufacturer that’s always seeking to innovate. For many years now, the manufacturer has been a pioneer in the car electrification industry and has been only offering vehicles that have some form of electrification.
By producing the EX30, the manufacturer seeks to reinvent the electric car and make it a vehicle that’s more accessible than ever before.
A Lot of Power in a Small Package
Although it’s taking the entry-level place of the Volvo XC40 as the smallest Volvo SUV, the EX30 promises to make no compromises on performance. In fact, according to the manufacturer, this SUV will be the vehicle that will demonstrate the fastest acceleration in the Volvo lineup.
Thanks to a powertrain consisting of two electric motors and an extended-range battery, the EX30 will generate 422 horsepower, and it will be able to jump from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.4 seconds.
The two-motor version has a charging capacity of up to 153 kW. In other words, you can charge your battery from 10 to 80 % in only 26.5 minutes.
The EX30 gets an extended-range NMC battery. It’s built with nickel, manganese and cobalt, and it has an estimated range of 442 km when it’s combined with the single motor configuration of this small SUV. For the EX30 offered with two motors, the estimated range is said to be 426 km.
Also Available in the Volvo EX30 Cross Country Trim
On some markets, the EX30 will be available in the Cross Country trim. Like all Volvo Cross Country models, this version of the EX30 will benefit from various bespoke elements, like:
- More ground clearance
- 19-inch black wheels
- Skid plates on the front, rear and side
- And much more!
Thanks to these details, the EX30 Cross Country will be able to face the most difficult type of terrains easily. If this trim level is offered on the Quebec market, it will be available for preorder at the beginning of 2024, with a release expected later in the year.
